Question 1

What is a DMARC record?

Accepted Answer

DMARC is a DNS TXT record at _dmarc.yourdomain that tells receiving mail servers what to do with messages that fail SPF or DKIM checks — monitor (p=none), quarantine, or reject. It is the policy layer that makes SPF and DKIM actually enforce.

Question 2

What is a good DMARC policy?

Accepted Answer

A protective policy is p=quarantine or p=reject with pct=100 and a rua reporting address. p=none only monitors and does not block spoofing, so it should be a temporary first step, not the final state.

Question 3

Is this DMARC checker free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. This free DMARC checker runs a live DMARC record check using the same DNS engine as FortifyNet's full security scan — no signup, no limits.
